SPECTRA – A LIGHT & WATER SHOW

SPECTRA – A LIGHT & WATER SHOW

Set against the stunning backdrop of Marina Bay Sands, Spectra is one of the major tourist highlights in Singapore. It is a 15-minute visionary light and water show powered by advanced lasers, fountain jets and visual projectors that is bound to leave spectators in awe. The production is anchored by a 12-metre high laminated glass prism that forms the show’s centrepiece.

Held at Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza, Spectra utilises advanced technology to produce a spectacular show unlike any other. It utilises a diverse range of water fountain techniques and underwater LED fixtures to produce vibrant colours. It also uses a synchronization software to ensure the soundtrack and the special effects are in sync to the millisecond.

Spectra is more than just an aesthetic performance. It comprises 4 acts that symbolises the city’s past, present and future. Acts I (Singular Vision-The Origin) and II (Prism of Diversity – The Blossoming of Ideas) are metaphors of Singapore’s history and culture, while Acts III (Kaleidoscope – The Fusion of Cultures, Technology and Passion) and IV (Future Focused – Realising the Dream) depict a futuristic Singapore.

Witness laser lights from Spectra show shooting from the rooftop of Marina Bay Sands and illuminate the sky while its reflection in the water complements the exquisite bay view. Enjoy the accompanying orchestral soundtrack composed and remixed by Kenn C, an award-winning producer and music arranger with past collaborations including celebrities such as Stefanie Sun, A-Mei and Jacky Cheung. Sit back and relax-it will be a memorable experience of a lifetime for the whole family!

More of a mini city than a neighbourhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.

Up-close on the Event Plaza

For the closest views of Spectra and its futuristic art projections beamed onto sprays of water, make for the Event Plaza on the first floor of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. This 15-minute show happens twice-nightly (or thrice-nightly from Fridays to Saturdays), and is set to a synchronised soundtrack by award-winning Singaporean producer, Kenn C. From a river cruise

Catching Spectra from the waters of the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade needn’t be a far-off dream. Hop on a river cruise or laser show cruise – we recommend the 7.30pm slot – for prime views of the light and water show when it commences at 8pm. The cruises also traverse Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and the rest of Marina Bay, so have your cameras ready for some picture-perfect snapshots of Singapore’s skyline.

With Marina Bay Sands in the background

If you’d rather catch Spectra with Marina Bay Sands in the backdrop, try watching the light and water show from the Merlion Park. Better yet, cross over to the other side of the Waterfront Promenade and walk until you hit Starbucks. Spectra’s just as much a thing of wonder from afar, framed by 180-degree views of the shining city. The only catch: you’ll miss out on the art projections and accompanying soundtrack that complete the show.
