The small archipelago is situated about 140 km (87 mi) north of the equator and just south of the tip of the Malay Peninsula, separated by the Straits of Johor. Singapore lies on one of the world's busiest shipping lanes along the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea. The Strait of Singapore separates the country's islands from the Indonesian Riau Archipelago in the south. The former British colonial trading post gained independence in 1965.


Singapore is famous for being a global financial center, being among the most densely populated places in the world, having a world-class city airport with a waterfall, and a Botanic Garden that is a World Heritage Site.


Singapore is known as a tourist destination and for its hot and humid climate, being very clean, and growing in area due to reclaimed land.The city-state is a shopper's paradise, besides the usual luxury brands sold in luxurious malls with luxury air conditioning, you can buy almost everything except chewing gum. Singapore is also known as "Instant Asia" because it offers visitors a quick glimpse of the Asian cultures that immigrants have brought from all parts of the continent.


Singapore can be reached by 3 methods of transport:


1.By Air

Singapore’s Changi Airport is one of the busiest and best connected in the world, handling over 100 airlines flying to some 400 cities. The airport is also home to Singapore Airlines, the flag carrier of Singapore. Together with Scoot, both airlines fly to more than 135 destinations globally.

The award-winning airport itself is jam-packed with activities and amenities, making it a world-class attraction in its own right.



2.By Sea

As a leading homeport in the heart of Asia, Singapore is one of the world’s busiest cruise centres. A host of cruise operators, covering luxury, premium, and contemporary offerings, is ready to whisk you from around the region to one of the city’s terminals. 3.By Land

Driving into Singapore from West Malaysia is a relaxing and scenic way of getting here. Singapore has two land checkpoints, at Tuas in the west and Woodlands in the north, that operate 24 hours a day.

Motorists of foreign-registered vehicles are required to have valid Autopass cards and motor insurance for their vehicles. Owners of foreign-registered motorcycles and cars are encouraged to apply online for a VEP/Autopass card. 


Singapore has claimed the tag of being one of the best tourist destinations around the world by attracting 18.5million people around the globe. Singapore has one the best metro networks(MRT) making it easy for tourists to travel places quickly and enjoy. It has many attractions which comes in the bucket list of any traveller.


Singapore has a special dedicated island called SENTOSA ISLAND which is mainly for tourist attractions consisting of an Aquarium, beaches, world famous Bungee jumping & luge ride. 


Singapore is also one of the few countries to have the famous Universal Studios in the sentosa island which boosts tourism there and easy transport by car or metro Singapore has become a hub for tourists.


Not only this but Singapore airport named CHANGI has been the world's best airport for the last decade. Having a jewel, butterfly garden and much inside the airport, it makes the people having a layover one of the best memorable moments in their life.


The Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 ranks Singapore 13th out of 136 countries overall, which was the third best in Asia only behind Japan (ranked 4th) and Hong Kong (ranked 11th). The report ranks Singapore's business environment, international openness, travel and tourism policy and enabling conditions as the best in the world (ranked 1st).
