This place is a real heaven for bird lovers. African Penguin, Black-winged Myna, Bali Myna, Great Blue Turaco, Blue Crowned Laughing Thrush, Humboldt Penguin. Great Hornbill and King Penguin are some of the species found here.


African Waterfall Aviary, Lory Loft, Jungle Jewels Flight Aviary, and Southeast Asian Birds Aviary are some astounding specialties of this location. Hornbill and Toucans Exhibit, Parrot Paradise, Pelican Cove, Royal Rumble, Swan Lake and World of Darkness are some noteworthy exhibits here. The Kings of the Skies Show and High Flyers Show is pretty popular among the kids, though it has been discouraged by many animal welfare groups. The stunning Jurong Bird Park also houses a bird-themed waterpark called Birdz of Play. This park is set to relocate to Mandai by 2020.

Jurong Bird Park Zones & Exhibits 

Waterfall Aviary

This is one of the world's largest walk-in aviaries with a focus on the birds mostly from Africa. It has towering bird enclosures and also houses the tall Jurong Falls, one of the world's tallest man-made, indoor waterfalls. One of the popular spots where tourists gather around and capture panoramic views of the area is the suspension bridge. There is a hiking trail for the adventure seekers who are looking to get into the wilderness and encounter more reticent birds. 


Dinosaur Descendants

Another popular of Jurong Bird Park, the Dinosaur Descendents is home to larger birds such as various species of crane and large flightless birds such as ostriches, emus, rheas and cassowaries. 


Wings of Asia 

This aviary is home to vulnerable species like Bali Mynah, bleeding heart dove among numerous others. Here, visitors can witness the largest collection of Southeast Asian birds, of over 200 species. There are large, central aviaries, as well as peripheral aviaries, housing the more delicate and territorial birds, which are kept in large cages. The species that can coexist with each other such as fruit doves and pigeons are left to roam freely. Every noon, a thunderstorm followed by a light drizzle is simulated, so noon is a good time to visit this segment. 


Lory Loft

This is a walk-in aviary for lories and lorikeets with over 1000 free-flying lories. It has nine storeys and sprawls across an area of 3000 Square metres. Other species found here are megapodes, currawongs, Eclectus parrots, king parrots, cockatoos and various Australasian parakeets. The aviary appears like a rainforest valley straight out of tropical Northern Australia. One can visit the lory loft and offer the lories a special nectar mix. 


Parrot Paradise 

Home to the various species of parrots, this is a small zone full of macaws, conures and cockatoos. Here, one can take a look at all three extant species of blue macaw - hyacinth, Lear's and Spix's.


Penguin Coast 

Built in the shape of a ship, this is one of the most favourite segments in the park, Penguin Coast houses four different species of penguins - the Humboldt, the macaroni, King penguin and more. Those visiting the park must surely visit Penguin coast because penguins are hardly found in such good conditions. They are secured in an indoor, climate-controlled den. 


Pelican Cove

This zone is home to all eight species of pelicans, including the endangered Dalmatian pelican. Other species found here are wild herons, storks, bin chickens and greater flamingos. There is a boardwalk for tourists to stroll and explore the birds. 


Hornbills and Toucans

There is a collection of 10-metre tall aviaries spread over an area of 2000 square kilometres, which exhibit hornbills and toucans collection. The aviaries blow up with a cacophony of loud honks. One can also join the interactive session known as the 'Hornbill chit chat' session where one of the park's great hornbills is presented. 


Windows of Paradise

This is a segment located beside the Lory Loft, housing the infamous Birds of Paradise. The walkway has no wire mesh and offers an unobtrusive view of these birds to the visitors. Jurong Bird Park is the first in the world to breed the twelve wired birds of paradise. Various birds hailing from Papua New Guinea are also found here. 


Royal Ramble

A small walking zone, Royal Ramble is home to four species of crowned pigeons and other vibrant species. 


Riverine

A unique exhibit, Riverine features an underwater viewing panel where the visitors can catch a glimpse of some of the diving birds. Ducks, doves, Southern River Terrapins, Fly River Turtles, Iridescent Sharks, Saratoga and other fish species can be spotted here. 


Breeding and Research Center (BRC) 

The Breeding and Research Center is the zone that handles the rearing process of the park's newly hatched birds. Around 150 rare and endangered birds are hand-reared here every year. Visitors can take a look at the nursery room where the handling and feeding of newly hatched birds are done. They can go around the incubation room to learn how the park incubated their eggs. 


Wetlands

A fine replica of an observation site, the Wetlands houses species coming from mangroves and wetlands. It is home to spoonbills, ibises and a pair of Shoebills. 


Flamingo Pool and Flamingo Lake

The Flamingo Pool and lake are home to the park's flock of flamingos. The various kinds of species include free-ranging ibises, green iguanas, Cuban rock iguanas, Cape shelducks, Caribbean flamingo, Chilean flamingo, Lesser flamingos and Cape shelducks. Of the three flamingo exhibits, the lake is the largest and houses the park's flock of Greater flamingos along with lesser flamingos and Australian white ibis. Visitors can go to the Flamingo lodge overlooking the Flamingo lake and get a closer look at the flamingoes and its various species.


Jurong Bird Park Shows 

There are two different bird shows organised at the Jurong Bird Park, held twice a day. These shows last around 20 minutes each.


King of the Skies

The King of the Skies show features the fierce birds of prey such as the White-tailed Sea Eagle, the Hooded Vulture, Harris's hawk, and the Malay fish owl circling the arena. The brave members of the audience can also give falconry a try.

High Flyers

The High Flyers show displays many of the prized birds of the Jurong Bird Park. One can witness the friendly parrot duel, the endangered Hyacinth Macaw Gaia, and the Great Pied Hornbills. This show also features the talented Yellow-naped Amazon named Amigo, the only bird in the world capable of singing in three languages.

Guided Tours 

There are two guided tours organised at the Jurong Bird Park.


Bird's Eye Tour

This tour involves the accompaniment of an experienced guide with visitors as they are taken through the most popular exhibits. Visitors also have the unique experience of hand-feeding starlings, rollers and cassowaries. The guides provide a plethora of information and fun facts about the avian world throughout the tour.

Private Buggy Tours

Accommodating up to 7 people, this tour involves the private use of the tour buggy, where visitors may leisurely wander around while being instructed on the best exhibits of the Jurong Bird Park.

Overnight Camping at Jurong Bird Park 

Jurong Bird Park offers a variety of camps for children under the age of 14. These camps range from half-day stays to overnight camps, where children are exposed to the amazing world of these avian species, gaining a deeper understanding of them through close-up observations and caring for them.


Be A Junior Avian Keeper

Children are given first-hand training at the nuances of being a bird keeper. This camp involves preparing feed for the birds and learning how the well-being and good health of the birds is managed.

Children will have the unique opportunity of experiencing close-up encounters with the birds of the park and hands-on bird-keeping experience.

Zones at Jurong Bird Park

1. African Treetops: 

This section shelters fascinating avian creatures, from across 111 species found in Africa, Seychelles, and Madagascar. You can take a 360 degrees walk through the rainforest canopy & see both the top tier and ground-dwelling birds. The common African birds that you can spot here include Purple glossy starling, great blue turaco, ashy starling, red-crested turaco, and golden-breasted starling.

 

2. Parrot Paradise: 

Parrot Paradise is home to South American species like golden conure & hyacinth macaw, the endangered red-fronted macaw, the critically endangered blue-throated macaw, and threatened species like the salmon-crested cockatoos.

 

You can also see black-legged parrot, burrowing parrot, blue-headed parrot, lilacine amazon, grey parrot, sun parakeet, yellow-shouldered amazon, red-sided eclectus parrot, galah, cockatiel, and major mitchell’s cockatoo.

1. Birds of Prey 

This zone lets you experience the magnificent hunting birds closely. To witness the majestic aura of birds of prey, be a part of Bird’s Eye Tour and King of the Skies show.


2. Breeding Research Centre  

 This is the place where you can find nannies of the Jurong Bird Park caring for the eggs and chicks. Also, do witness an incubation room here where they take the abandoned eggs for improving their hatching process.


3. Flamingo Lake 

Find the mud nest mounds where the flamingo eggs are incubated. You will have plenty of gorgeous pink-hued flamingos to capture in your Jurong Bird Park diaries. 


4. Flamingo Pool 

Have you ever witnessed the beauty of Caribbean Flamingo? If not yet, Jurong Bird Park gives you this exciting opportunity to spend some time with them at their one and only Flamingo Pool.


5. Hornbills and Toucans Zone 

This is a 2000 m house homing to around 27 spacious aviaries which have about 19 hornbill species. You will be able to spot black hornbills here, which is one of the most difficult species to locate anywhere else.


6. Lory Loft Feeding 

Visitors visit this zone primarily to feed the Lowry Lofts with the dry mix, honey, and water. Do capture some beautiful moments as these birds greedily eat and drink what you serve them.


7. Penguin Coast 

Meet the most adorable sea creature of this planet at the Penguin Coast. This 1630 m indoor zone exhibits different penguin species such as Humboldt, Rockhopper, and Macaroni.


8. Pelican Cove 

Spot on different Pelican species wandering here and there in this zone. American white, Asian spot-billed, African pink-backed, and Australian pelican species are worth endearing.


9. Swan Lake 

How about meeting a long-necked swan? Head towards Swan Lake or Swan Pond to watch the long-necked beautiful swans gliding through the free-flowing waters of the pond. 


10. Waterfall Aviary 

Witness the magnificence of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls at Jurong Bird Park’s Waterfall Aviary. What you can do here is simply capture some panoramic views of the surrounding beauty. If time permits, do hike towards the Hut to catch a glimpse of some of the reticent birds hovering all over your head.


11. Wetlands 

Combined with the three essential elements of Earth – water, warmth, and nutrients, Wetlands is a bustling zone to halt and engage in bird-watching. 


12. Wings of Asia
