East Coast Park - Singapore

East Coast Park - Singapore

East Coast Park is a beach and a park encompassing Marine Parade, Bedok and Tampines, along the southeastern coast of Singapore. It was opened in the 1970s, after the government had completed reclaiming land off the coast at Katong which extends from Changi to Kallang. It serves these and other seaside communities.

The city’s most popular stretch of beach always buzzes with activity – even when it’s not playing host to the wide spectrum of sporting events that grace its shores regularly, like the Singapore Marathon and Xtreme Championship.

If there’s one place in Singapore that’s synonymous with sporty outdoor activities, it’s East Coast Park, where some seven million locals and tourists flock to for the variety of sporting, entertainment and dining attractions.

Along this 15-kilometre stretch of beach, you’ll find hordes of cyclists and roller bladers enjoying the sun and sea breeze, while cable skiing and water sports are on offer for those who prefer offshore and aquatic activities.

The action amps up several notches at the world-class Xtreme SkatePark, a place where adrenaline junkies can get their fix.

It’s a great place to just sit back and relax too, with no shortage of restaurants, bars and cafes along the beaches to sip on a cocktail or grab a bite. Keep it simple and have a picnic with family and friends by the beach under the swaying coconut palms and casuarinas.

Whatever you choose to do, there’s no better way to end the day than with hearty local fare at the East Coast Food Lagoon, where you can feast on local favourites like satay (grilled meat skewers) and barbecued chicken wings right on the beach.

East Coast Park, one of Singapore’s most sought-after inner-city gateways, offers an irresistible assortment of recreations with sightseeing, dining and outdoor activities. Spread over a sprawling area of 185 hectares with a scenic coastline, stretching across 15 Km the park attracts more than 7 million tourists every year. The pet theme of the park i.e. “Recreation for All” is reflected through every piece of attraction dotted across the park.

Whether you are on a weekend family or an all-friends’ trip East Coast Park has something for everyone. Under the canopy of coconut, Casuarina and Ketapang groves you can sit back and unwind your cares. East Coast Park is a great outdoor sporting zone for those who want some action in their trip. The myriad of sports the park offers include beach volleyball, cable skiing, cycling, hiking and water sports.

Among the adventure activities available at the East Coast Park Xtreme SkatePark allures tourists who want to try their guts. There are a number of restrooms in the park campus which are well equipped with bathing amenities where you can bathe or change during your trip.
